By now, most people have heard of the term “Soul Tribe”, but what is it exactly, and why is it so important? The human race has an intrinsic desire for tribalism. The loyalty, protection, and camaraderie we find in those that we choose to surround our selves with, is important on a very primal level. And yes, I did say CHOOSE. Your soul tribe is a group of people who just get you. They understand you, they resonate with you, and they share similar values and beliefs. They are your chosen family. Oftentimes, they are souls that you have interacted with in previous lifetimes.

Have you ever talked to someone and suddenly you both realize that you’ve been talking nonstop for hours even thought it’s your first time meeting one another? There’s an instant connection and you can feel that your souls recognize one another. They believe in your passion, philosophy, your purpose, and you believe in theirs. It's knowing someone on a soul-deep level even though it seems impossible after having just met. It can be one of the most bizarre feelings in the world but also one of the best feelings you can imagine. This is what it feels like to find a member of your soul tribe.

Your Soul Tribe is your support system: These people are your “circle of trust” and you are part of

theirs. They are the ones you call on when you feel like your life is falling apart. They are the ones that give the pep talks or just sit with you if that is what you need. They will not abandon you when you are lost. They will sit with you in the darkness if that is what you need, but then they will help you find your way back into the light again. They are the ones that give you unconditional love but will also be there to have the hard conversations with you when you need them too. They will push you when you need to be pushed and tell you to slow down when you need to rest.

You can always be yourself: When you are with your soul tribe, not only can you feel free to be yourself, it will be expected. They value honesty and authenticity just as much as you do so you can be real with them. This will always be a safe place where you are loved and accepted for the amazing person you already are. There is no need to pretend here and dropping the mask you might wear for society isn't frightening in your chosen circle. For a lot of us, trust does not always come easily but with your soul tribe, it will. The ability to truly be oneself is a beautiful gift that is given and received amongst your soul tribe.

You inspire one another: Your soul tribe are also some of your loudest cheerleaders and they always want the best for you. These people want to see you grow and succeed and vice versa. They are not secretly hoping that you will fail. Seeing you grow will inspire them to grow as well. You uplift and encourage one another so that you are all growing to become better people. You will inspire each other to not only grow in your everyday life, but your spiritual one as well. Your soul tribe is there to help raise the overall vibration of the group. Change and growth is not always easy but knowing that you have support, makes it more bearable and also inspires others to feel safe to do the work that they need to do as well.

Your Soul Tribe helps improve your health: According to an AARP study, nearly 43 million adults over the age of 45 in the United States suffer from chronic loneliness. It is also believed that acute feelings of loneliness, isolation, and of being trapped within the confines of what society deems "appropriate" will cause one to suffer not only emotionally and mentally, but also physically. This kind of loneliness not only inhibits spiritual development, it can cause disease within the body as well. When we have healthy, nourishing, spiritually mature relationships, it is medicine for the soul. We help to heal one another when we come together in our soul tribes.

Finding your Soul Tribe

So how does one begin to find members of their Soul Tribe?

  • Ask the Universe for help. It wants you to find your community because when you do, it affects not only you and those members of your soul tribe, but has a ripple effect as well. You and your soul family radiate the energy of community, love and acceptance that flows out beyond your group, touching the lives of others and in turn, helping them to awaken and begin search out their tribe as well.

  • Matching energies are drawn to one another- like attracts like. When we begin to awaken and then subsequently do the work that is needed to raise our vibration, we naturally start to attract members of our soul tribe. So do the hard stuff- the shadow work, the healing rituals, the coming into alignment spells, the meditations and whatever it is that the Universe is pushing you to do. You’ve asked for its help so now it is showing you what needs to be done.

  • Set the intention. On a new or waxing moon, set intentions that you and your soul family will begin to find one another. Light a few candles in their honor, and state those intentions out loud. Reach out and let your soul call to theirs.

  • Look into various groups of like minded individuals and perhaps go to an upcoming gathering. Be open and let the energy flow. Listen to your soul. Don’t discount instant connections you may find there for they very well could be part of that soul family.

By nature, we are tribal beings. We need each other like oxygen. We need to know that we belong to a Soul Tribe in order to feel safe enough to fully self-actualize and grow on our Soul Path. When we are walking our Soul Path, we align with our highest self and are able to walk toward and fulfill our purpose and the destiny of our human experience.
